KONE - Wall of Inventions

Master - Year 2 (Exchange)

The goal is to create a visible, engaging, and inspiring Wall of Inventions that celebrates KONE’s
This will make inventions and inventors more accessible, understandable, and visible. By doing so, the project shows appreciation for the inventors and their work, highlights their achievements to employees and visitors, and reinforces a sense of pride, accomplishment, and understanding across KONE.

As part of the team, we collaborated easily. I helped with the conceptual direction while staying deeply involved in prototyping, spatial testing, and shaping the narrative experience. The project's focus was on defining why this installation mattered, how it should feel, what emotions it should evoke, and how users would connect with the inventors behind each story. Through iterative research, material exploration, and reflective design methods, we developed a concept that blended technology with a sense of presence and celebration.

The outcome was an interactive display in which a control panel revealed new information about KONE’s innovations and designers. The screen showcased teams, inventions, designers and history through engaging information, transforming a simple interface into a dynamic storytelling portal.

During user testing, we noticed that the elevator became a shared moment of recognition, transforming a digital display into a collective ritual of appreciation.

In this project, we developed an innovative design that is bolder and more unconventional in our approach to products, information collection, and sharing. This concept features a more abstract representation, with the setting resembling a showroom design rather than focusing solely on a specific point.
