This project focused on developing a non-invasive tool to prevent cervical cancer by stopping the progression of HPV into cancerous cells.
It explored how design can support women’s health with empathy, comfort, and clarity. Our team developed the PapioCap, a non‑invasive concept aimed at preventing cervical cancer by stopping the progression of HPV through gentle, localised heat treatment.
Because the product is inserted vaginally, we faced many challenges around comfort, safety, and emotional sensitivity. My role focused on both the design and the technical workings of the concept, navigating how to make something that felt intuitive, respectful, and as comfortable as possible for the user.
This project taught me how deeply design can impact trust and well-being. I learned to think beyond function, to consider how a product feels, how it’s experienced, and how thoughtful design can support people in vulnerable moments. It strengthened my belief that even in medical contexts, design must remain human, empathetic, and grounded in care.
